I have recently caught the bug for making Bears. Currently I am working on a miniature bear and its very very fiddly.

Having all the parts cut out.  You can see the tiny head pattern, well that's still to be cut out and I'll post updates as to what that turns out to be.

Here is his body, stuffed but only pinned so I could get an idea of the body shape.

He will be standing on a display plinth when I'm finished, as he has yet to be dressed in some flamboyant trousers, pronged hat.

There is also bells & braiding to add to his costume before he is complete.

Here is a head.

Over the last few days I have been having a good time having a rummage around the house for usable fabrics and a good old mooch around charity shops for old fur coats & upholstery fabric shops.

I came across a coat given to me that I would never had worn so I opened up the seams & got a lovely pile of this
Its outer edge is suede, the inner is a lush long pile fur, used fur side out, this will make a gorjuss bear & i have plenty of this so I may be able to get a couple of big bears from this.

I can;t wait to get started!!. Also the offcuts will make great Paw Pads.

Also because I had to start this miniature bear I plumped for some upholstery fabric, as funds were tight for mohair, so I grabbed bargain with this gorjuss velvet which I call Silver Fox Velvet just because of the look of it

Its so nice & the colors are just fabulous, It was a bargain at £4 for 1/2 a mtr. With a strong backing, its made the perfect head for my mini bear.

I have even enlisted my fella in to my bear making as he is in charge of making the plinths these will go on.

Tomorrow we will go hunting for the wood he needs, & I need to pick up some braiding and more thread. Cant wait to get started on finally dressing & Setting my bear.

who knows where this venture will take me.

Finally my 1st Haed is framed. And im very pleased with the result. I just have to add an engraved tag to the middle of the mount at the bottom and the whole thing is complete.

After i finished her, there was tramlines running though as i stitch them column by column as opposed to cross country. But after I spent all yesterday washing her, stretching and lacing the tramlines disappeared.

I did buy some crafters companion, silver glitter spray varnish but after using it on 3 test pieces I decided not to spray the mount as it turned it nearly black, so chose to stick my orginal midnight blue & silver colour scheme. I am very pleased with the end result. Once the engraved tag is added to finish off I can wrap it up ready for my daughters 20th Birthday.

She's just moved in to a new house and has been on at me that she would like one of my large stitches to add to her walls. Now she will have. I am currently working on HAE Vanity for my youngests 19th Birthday in September I hope that turns out as well as this one did.

I am working on 2 projects at the moment, this one is a towel set i have decided to embroider for my eldest , My youngest and my son in law, this is lilac roses which i am stitching on a white
towel set & face cloth for my eldest, my youngest will have a lilac set & a black set for my son in law.

Using waste canvas I am stitching on the Band at the end on each set, and if i have time i want to do a bathrobe and slippers set for them all. These little motifs don't take long and i can stitch them when I'm at the PC (who says us girls can't multitask), I also plan to do their initial in one corner on each set too.

i have found online some slippers with a aida band across the foot, so i plan (time permitting) to stitch these as well to compliment the towels and robes.

My 2nd project is the one I'm working on during the evenings, this is week 2 up until the 24th Oct, I have done quite a bit more since this photo was taken and am now just working on the shaping of the foot of the stocking.

This one will join the one i started last year but didn't finish in time for xmas, as i finished it jan this year.

Its not taking as long as i thought it would so i am also hoping i will have time to complete a 3rd stocking as well as doing all these towels.

Lets hope there's enough hours in the day to complete everything i want to do, i always seam to set myself these impossible tasks at the last minute.

Finished 10/10/10
22 weeks
695 hours.

tramlines are showing through but you cant see them when under tension so hopefull once ive washed, stretched laced and framed her these will not show.

Its a birthday pressie for my eldest, shes been on to me about a large piece to hang over the fireplace in her new house so she will love this.

Im still deciding on the mount, frame will be silver, and im thinking of either indigo or blue mount with a silver mount underneath to create a double mount, the main mount will be sprayed with a silver glitter varnish to create a sparkle effect. Will post a pic again when shes framed.

I keep my threads in bags, with my new floor frame ive made 2 new pegs for the back board, one hang my scissors off on the left hand side and a plain peg on the left to hang my gripper clamp that's holding all my bags together

Anyway I'm thinking now it might be a good idea to make a floss tag and punch holes in all my thread bags to put on a ring to hang on that peg off a hook like my scissors ive made floss tags before for exchanges this is the last one i sent
I'm still oooming & ahhring over it, does anyone else use floss tags/rings to hold their thread bags or Madeiras???

Im thinking it would keep my threads in numerical order as well as being more practical. Then again i could just stop faffing about over this and get on with some stitching lmao.

Well it will finally be decided tomorrow, I dont think it matters who you vote for, we all know massive cuts need to be made, mind you we wouldnt be in this mess, if Boredom Brown had'nt sold off our gold reserves and allowed british banks to gamble with yank banks like they were at vegas on a boys jolly then awarded themselves massive bonus's.

In the time honoured tradition we will be royally shafted whoever gets in.
